You cannot formally enter this category. The winner will be selected from all winners of the other categories.The winner must demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Excellence, innovation and leadership by executive management
  • Strong financial discipline
  • Consistent and excellent safety record
  • Proven leadership in community, eco and technology endeavors
  • Consistent high standards of customer service
  • Excellent labor relations

OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE NATIONAL AVIATION AWARD

You cannot formally enter this category. This is an award which honors an individual whose commitment, leadership and endeavors have resulted in significant and lasting contributions that have shaped and promoted the African/Ghanaian airline industry. It will be awarded by the Awarding Board to a person or to a business who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of Ghana Aviation (not time bound).

AIRLINE OPERATORS AWARD

This award is unique in that it will focus solely on the commercial air transport industry and that company which provides excellent shareholder value, community spirit and operational excellence as well as first-class customer service. This award is open to any airline which operates services into, out of, or within the geographical territory of Ghana. The Awarding Board will be looking for a carrier which has demonstrated consistent excellence in customer service, commercial planning and distribution acumen, as well as marketing drive or successfully implemented a significant project during the last 12 months.

Each company must submit its nominating evidence based on the above criteria stating number of passengers carried, market shareholding reach, marketing advertising acumen, sales turnover by destination category, commercial distribution techniques, client friendly user interfaces as well as policies, procedures and innovations that lead towards great customer service EXPERIENCE as well as good value for money.

AIRPORT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Judges will be looking for an airport management committed to infrastructural improvement and enhancement of the user friendly passenger experience good location / access, check-in safety / security, restaurants / bars, or optional shopping for business or for families within the last 12 months.

The winner of the 2016 Airport of the Year Award should demonstrate:

  • A clear and excellent partnership with airline customers
  • High standards of environmentally friendly operational practices
  • Innovation in providing excellent facilities for passengers
  • Good working relationships with local authorities to ensure the economic value of their airport is understood and supported.

Each entry must submit evidence for the size and nature of the airport. Please explain your overall strategy and what it has achieved to date, paying particular attention to the criteria listed above.

PROMISING AVIATION PROFESSIONAL AWARD

This award is open to any aviation professional in the early stages of their career, either employed or self-employed in Ghana. In the last 12 months, they must have made an outstanding contribution to the industry (company or sector). The nominees must be under 40 years of age. The winner can be nominated by themselves, their companies, or members of the public.

AVIATION INSTITUTION AWARD

Open to any third level institution or business involved in the delivery and development of academic aviation educational courses or skills in Ghana or a company with a significant business presence in Ghana. In the last 12 months, it must have made a significant contribution to aviation related academic educational services. , it must have made a significant contribution to aviation training, particularly in the areas of flight crew, cabin crew, safety, engineering, technical or other specialist aviation training.

This award is open to any bank or financial institution which has provided successful and user friendly online payment systems or interface for air booking and ticketing.

This award seeks to honor the professional institution which has general airline activity including passenger insurance. The company must have offered insurance coverage for cancellation cover curtailment, emergency medical expenses, loss of passport/travel documents, baggage and personal belongings, personal liability, financial failure protection.

AVIATION CARGO TRANSPORTER AWARD

This award is open to any airline into carriage of goods and cargo within and out of Ghana. In the last 12 months, you must have expanded or secured new export markets in the field of aviation related products or services.

Companies engaged in the airfreight are considered. The award recognizes safe, reliable and competitively-priced services to customers and businesses in the industry with a growing fleet and well-maintained facilities. The Board will base their decisions on what your company has done to support cargo transportation. It is essential that your application highlights your key strengths strategies and achievements.

BRAND OF THE YEAR

Whether it’s a prelaunch, reformulation, brand extension, or simply a new or better approach, this award recognises outstanding performance by an existing oil and gas brand in response to changing trade or consumer need. Nominees for the Airline Brand of the Year Award are carriers that have developed or entered new markets and/or innovative business strategies that have grown their networks, revenues, customer base and/or brand recognition.

This award is presented to the company that has campaigned well by introducing and providing great offers regarding ticket and luggage promotions that have benefited passengers directly.

  • A marketing strategy that has delivered measurable results in customer and/or revenue growth
  • A business strategy that has increased brand recognition and loyalty across existing and new customers

AVIATION TECHNOLOGY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

This award is open to any company that has released a product or service in the past 12 months, which has provided either significant: cost, safety, business productivity, technological, environmental or customer benefits to the aviation industry. Nominees for the Aviation Technology Achievement Award are companies or carriers that demonstrate innovation and follow-through in the application of a new technology or system that has enhanced their operational, financial and/or market share performance. Examples of technology fields include aircraft, air traffic control, maintenance, reservations computer systems, customer-interface systems, in-flight entertainment systems, training and safety.

The winner must demonstrate the following criteria: Introduction and integration of a technology that has delivered measurable results Innovation and leadership in the development and/or application of that technology or system Benefit of that technology to the airline and/or to the greater airline industry

This award is open to any airline who operate services within Ghana-inbound travel. The Awarding Board will be looking for a carrier which has demonstrated consistent excellence in airline operations.

Within Ghana there is a reward for one or more individuals who perform junior or middle management roles in the industry and are known for their hard-work, loyalty and devotion to duty. The company must have exhibited good passenger service in the last 12 months.
